New York --- Movie Review

This year has been virtually empty when it comes to film releases . Those that managed to get released before the strike were all major disappointments and the year has been so far not good . The first half of 2009 has almost got over and now we finally have a film that one can look forward to , New York . The film's subject matter is known to everyone and this film is not a typical entertainer . When a production house like Yashraj makes a film like this it is bound to get a bit commercialized . What matters though is that does the core subject matter of the film gets lost under the glossy outside .

The answer to that question is no . Kabir Khan is an intelligent film maker and he had proved that in Kabul Express . This time he re-confirms it . He has made sure that the big cast and budget do not affect the film in any way and affect it only in a positive way . The positive that I see is that when big names and big stars get associated with such a subject the message that the story aims to send reaches a far wider audience than what it would have in case of a smaller budget film .

Talking of film , it starts off in a great way and comes straight to the point . There's no circumlocution and the director makes his point clear right in the beginning that this ain't no usual masala entertainer . The introduction of characters on screen is one of the most powerful I've seen in recent times . The song "Junoon" has been Brilliantly used for this task and I could have never imagined that it would be used in this way . The small love angle that is there in the film is there just for some roughly 20-25 minutes in the beginning and that too done in a very swift and neat way . Time passes by in the film pretty fast and it takes no time for the director to come right from 1999 to 2008 . The whole introduction part has been done in a very fresh and brilliant way . The friendship of all the three characters has been portrayed in a very subtle manner and it is not in your face . They become friends just like normal people do , presentation might be a bit different and large . The emotional connect with the main characters gets established in this part and I must again say Kabir has done this job fabulously .

Once that connect is established , the film gets right down to business and talks of life after 9/11 for an average Muslim person in America . The film moves about in a very fast and a bit thrilling way . It talks about the inhuman torture that the non-american prisoners have to bear in the prison cells and how it got even brutal after the 9/11 attacks . Kabir and the actors have very well understood and felt the subject and carried it off brilliantly on screen . There is this small character of guy who has been traumatised by the treatment he gets for no fault of his own . He is just brilliant . Though a really small part but when he speaks about what happened with him , it shakes you to the core . The actor has done a top quality job for this small part and he has the strongest part apart from the main cast . This is one character that you would remember for a long time even after the film ends .

I don't want to give out many details from the story as it is treated in a way that it would be better if you know them as you watch the film . The little bit of suspense that Kabir has kept has been done in a nice way in the film . The film's story unfolds in a really nice way and it manages to hold attention of the viewer throughout the film . The first half of the film ends strongly and manages to hold the interest of the viewer and keep it alive for the second half .

If majority of the first half is seen through Omar's (Neil) eyes then second half has Sam's (John) view of things . The second half starts afresh and the story moves forward from there and doesn't creep slowly towards the end . The serious tone of the film continues here too and it is this part where the director aims to send out his view on the things and also the message of the film . The way story moves , the end is a bit expected yet the director manages to surprise a bit here too and executes it in an almost perfect manner . The end comes at a proper time and again comes at a swift pace . The film doesn't have any emotional drama yet the emotional connect with the characters is good . Kabir proves his point that one doesn't need long emotional dialogues to establish that connect .

The cast of the film is also great and they all look good together . The friendship of the characters has been portrayed in a very fresh and good way . Katrina , John and Neil look great on-screen together and a good friendly love film can be made using this chemistry . But I guess it won't look as fresh the second time as it did in this one . Too bad that this film has none of that and has only small trailer of what could have been full length Yashraj feature film . The innocence of their friendship and their characters add a lot to the film and make the point of the film even more stronger . The young characters of the film also make sure that the message goes out straight to the young people of our country or as Pepsi calls it , the Youngistaan .

Talking of acting , everybody has done a great job and even Katrina who is accused to be a mere show girl does her part well . John and Neil both have felt the characters in the script and acted out them well . Irfan needs no compliments and he is great as usual . His character is also an important one . The small kid that is there in the film is also great and his really short part is also good .

Music of the film is also good and it has been brilliantly used by Kabir . He has made sure that almost through every song the story keeps moving and the songs don't hinder the pace of the film . In fact the songs have been used in such a way that they add to the film in so many ways . The background score by Julius Packam is great and only in some parts it could have been a bit different . The cinematography by Aseem Mishra is great and he shows new york in a great way . While watching the film I realised that the trailer of the film had been cut in a really brilliant manner and kudos to Kabeer and his team for that . The editing of the film by Rameshwar Bhagat is also good and film is very brisk in nature and moves about at a constant rate .

In all , its a great film and you need to see it to believe it . The script of the film is great and when script is great things generally tend to fall in place automatically . The director Kabir Khan has done a really good job and he needs to be applauded for making a film on this subject . I don't like Aditya's decisions mostly but I respect him for supporting this film and also providing Kabir with a good budget to make it . He should support films like this and look forward and if not many then at least make one such film a year . Kabir is a good film maker and I am now looking forward to his next project , I hope it is also a good one . I would recommend this film to everyone and it is high time that we support good and subject oriented cinema no matter who produces it . If this film works on the box office which I am sure it would then many producers would dare to support such projects and not go for the usual masala entertainers .

Movie Rating : Four out of Five ; A good film made with a good intent .

New York --- Music Review

New York is the first big film to hit the screens after the long strike between the producers and multiplex owners and also Yashraj's first film for this year . Yashraj had a terrible last year with RNBDJ being the solo hit of the year and they would expect to start this year on a positive note . This film by Kabir Khan of Kabul Express fame is based on different subject matter and is not usual Yashraj entertainer . The film as we all know has the backdrop of 9/11 WTC attacks and the story revolves around that incident . The trailers of this film had hit the cinema halls long back along with Rab Ne.. but the release got delayed and now Yashraj have very less time to promote the film . The music of this one is by Pritam and expectations of a commercially hit album are always there from him . He last worked on Aa Dekhe Zara and the track "Gajab Huio Rama" is still on the charts .

Since the film is completely based in New York , the music of the film also has that complete western feel and there are very few Indian elements in it . The soundtrack has eight tracks in total with 6 originals and 2 remixes . The first song on the album is the track that features in the trailer , "Hai Junoon", by KK . The track begins with a guitar piece that reminded me a bit of the guitar theme from Sholay . When I heard it in the trailer my expectations with the music rose and I started expecting a good soundtrack . I must say that the best part of the track was in the trailer itself and apart from that it has very little to offer , at least in terms of music . The track though a simple one but yet in my opinion is the best on the entire soundtrack and comes upfront . It will definately get popular but at a a slower rate probably because it is not one of those instant hit types . The lyrics by Sandeep Shrivastav are nice and refreshing and capture the emotions of the characters very well . This song suits Katrina very much and this is definately her time . KK as usual does a good job singing the song and I loved the chorus also in the track . Overall , a nice light track to begin the album .

Next comes "Mere Sang" by Sunidhi Chauhan who I think sings very few good songs these days . She has far more talent and she is wasting it on so so commercial tracks . By the way this track is not one of those and is a good one . It also has a western feel to it and is of the league of songs from pritam's film METRO. This song also has a good use of guitars and drums and has the rock feel to it . The lyrics of this one are also good and have that urban feel to them . Overall , its a nice track and Sunidhi does well singing it .

Coming third is "Tune Jo Na Kaha" which reminded me of the track "Chal Chalen Apne Ghar" from Woh Lamhe . Pritam who is famous for composing inspired music this time got a little inspired from his own work from the past . Though not largely but in certain parts you can observe the similarity between this track and that one . Listen to both the tracks and if you think that I am right then please leave a comment , I want to know that is it me only who thinks this way or you also think so . Well , this track is also good one and the lyrics here add to the beauty of the song . Sandeep has done a great job once more and he can do even better . The vocals are by Mohit Chauhan on this one and he has done great job as usual . Overall, a nice slow number and has some nice piece of lyrics .

"Aye Saaye Mere" comes next which aims at sending out a message through itself . The central message of the film also probably lies in this song . This one has been composed and Sung by Pankaj Avasthi . He does a great job singing and his voice does have that sufiana quality of a saint and the music he composed for the song is also pretty simple and basic . This song would most probably feature in the background and would look good that way along with the film's storyline .

Next come the remix versions of "Hai Junoon" and "Mere Sang" which are just like every other remix and have those bass beats and DJ effects with a higher tempo . Nothing great about them and are good for discs etc. Amongst the two , I liked the "Mere Sang" one more . The tracks have been remixed by Julius Packam who has also composed the two themes musics that follow next .

In the end come two theme musics by Julius Packam , first one being "Sam's Theme" which is nice and has vocals by Caralisa Monteiro . The fact that Sam's character has a theme proves that it is the central character in the film . Caralisa does a great job with the vocals and apart from her vocals the music has little to offer in this theme . Nothing so new about the theme but might look good in the film . Sounds a little sad which leads me to believe that Sam probably dies in the film .

Finally comes the theme music of the film and this one is nice bit of music but not a great one . Julius had done a fabulous job in Kabul Express and I expected a little more from him . I hope he does a great job with the background score of the film just like he did in Kabul Express .

Overall , the album falls a little short of the expectations but still is worth listening and the songs are pretty simple . They match to the theme of the film and I am sure they would look and sound even better in the film . Lets hope that the film doesn't fall short of expectations and is at least as good as Kabul Express .

Album Rating : Three out of Five ; certainly worth listening .

Slumdog Millionaire --- Movie Review

The film that is probably the strongest contender for this year's Academy Award , Slumdog Millionaire , has finally released in India and now we get to know what is the hype all about . The fact that it is a great film is already proved and it has already got a nod of approval in the form of the Golden Globes . So in this review my stress would be more on the point that why do we , the people of India, need a film like Slumdog Millionaire . A film like SM is obviously not made for the sole cause of entertainment and most of the things that are depicted in the film are known to an average educated person in India . So then why do we need such a film ? The answer to that question , in my opinion, is because we who are fortunate enough and educated take these things for granted and are comfortably passive about it . We just ignore the so called truth of our society and live in our own world . And a film like SM reminds us that though we are part of the Developed sections of our nation , still there are some sections which are completely ignored and practically impossible to live in .

Slumdog Millionare is probably just like a normal film for people living outside our country but it is a Mirror for people of India . It reminds us of the problems and sections that we still need to work upon and sections that cannot be left ignored if we want to develop completely . We should not take for granted the life that we lead and care for the unprivileged people too is what the film talks of . Though it is basically a Masala story of a Boy's journey from Rags to Riches with a love angle but what lies in the underbelly of the film is more interesting . The film depicts the life of Slums in the truest possible manner and there is at no point any kind of exaggeration . This happens and we just don't know because we are comfortable in ignoring it . Even if we do know then nobody cares to even talk about it .

It addresses a range of problems that India faces like Communalism , Illiteracy and Population . And it is the poor people , the people who dwell in slums that get affected the most from the above mentioned problems and they are the ones that pay the maximum price . They have to get into things like prostitution , Beggary , Drugs , Stealing and also Killing just for the sake of survival . These are all the things that the lead characters of the film , Salim , Jamal and Latika get into to survive there way through the tough life of a slumdog .

I won't reveal much of the plot so that you can enjoy the film if you haven't seen it yet . The plot anyways revolves around all these problems with a backdrop of a quiz show , "Who wants to be a Millionare" or the KBC . The film stars some of the good actors of our country like Irrfan Khan , Saurabh Shukla , Mahesh Manjrekar , Anil Kapoor and the brilliant kid Tanay Chedda . I've mentioned these names before Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto because it is probably these guys who could relate maximum to the story and understand it at much better level than the two main leads . These guys have seen a part of this reality and are well aware of it . There couldn't have been better people than these that could have played the parts better . So Lavleen Tandon who is also the co-director does her job of Casting very well . Her casting plays a big role in the film and probably she deserves a much more praise than what she is getting . I mean Danny Boyle couldn't have possibly managed to cast such fine group of actors since he doesn't know most of them . Apart from these , the lead actors , Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto , also acted very well and it was very refreshing to see good actors on screen instead of Sons/Daughters of already established actors playing the part . Dev does a fabulous job and the innocence of his personality suited very much to the character of Jamal . Frieda's part was small but a well acted one . The entire cast on a whole was perfect one and everyone did their respective parts well .

The two things apart from Casting and Direction that played a huge role in the film were the Screenplay and the cinematography . Simon Beaufoy does a great job on the screenplay and has kept it as tight as possible . The cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle did a fine job capturing the Mumbai slums even though he is not an Indian . The fifth important thing was obviously the Music by the maestro himself , A.R. Rahman , who kept it pretty simple and right on the money . He added a lot to the thrilling portions of the film through his music and I must say Danny Boyle very wisely used his music . This is not though his best and still he is winning all the awards . Now that he is a well known name internationally I am sure the World will now see what a gem we had all these years . He for sure would get nominated and probably even win more Oscars in future . He does a good job with the tracks O Saaya , Jai Ho and Liquid Dance .

And last but certainly not the least , Danny Boyle , the captain of the ship , who carried the project on his shoulder . He has done what sadly no Indian producer or Director dared to do in past . Still , I wont take anything away from Directors like Anurag Kashyap , Rajkumar Gupta and several others like them who have earlier tried to show this in parts . But it is Danny Boyle who treated the subject with utmost sincerity and honesty . He has made a fine film and there is no doubt about it . Danny Boyle has made sure that though film talks about serious issues like poverty etc. still it has enough entertainment to increase the reach of his film . He has made a film something like Rang De Basanti of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra which had clear message wrapped in all the masala of an entertaining film . Calling it a masala film would not be right since it doesn't have all that stereotypical elements . But it is certainly entertaining emotional story filled with emotions that a typical masala film has like romance, revenge, sibling rivalry and love, a villainous character like that of Anil Kapoor and lots of Thrills and action sequences .

Danny and the whole team of the film have managed to create an entertaining cum awakening film that deserves every bit of success that it is receiving . Yes it shows the poverty of India and whats wrong in that ? If we very proudly boast about our growing economic status in the world and the "Feel Good Factor" , then we should also be ashamed of the other side of our nation . There is no doubt that poverty exists every where in the world and it is not only in India but why should we care about the rest of the world anyways . We have a responsibility towards our nation and its a little sad that a guy like Danny has to come and show it to the whole world including us .

Film Rating :
Four and Half out of Five Stars ; fantastic entertaining film which is a must watch for all the people of our country .

Mumbai Meri Jaan --- Movie Review

This year has been quite dry when it comes to the quality of films that have been produced . In fact there were just 2-3 films that satisfied me and made me think it of as a brilliant piece of cinema . The interesting thing to note is that the Two films that I found great this year (Aamir and Khuda Ke Liye)were both based on terrorism and its aftermath . The third film this year that has impressed me is again having a terrorist background and that is Mumbai Meri Jaan . This film should not be called a film , it is more of a docu-drama sort of film which has depicted the reality of Mumbai and Mumbaikars , their problems and their Life in general covering all strata's of Society. This film is almost like a Reality Special Report that a channel like NDTV makes with real stories and real characters which makes us realise how tough life can be and how nobody gives a damn how tough your life is . You have to sort it out yourself .

The film though is based on Mumbai Blasts but neither it focusses on the plan of Blasts neither does it focus on catching of criminals . As the name suggests it is about the life of Mumbaikars and how their life gets affected by a terrorist activity .The film is has no common story but has strong characters and each character has a story of his own . The film focusses on various issues that are surrounding us apart from the big Terrorism issue . It makes a black humour of those issues that we don't take up seriously but terrorism is the Baby of those small issues itself . It portrays that if we sort out those small issues in our life then automatically the big issue of Terrorism will end .

The film focuses on lives of Five Peoples who belong to different sections of society and all live in Mumbai . Soha Ali Khan who is a Journalist , Kay Kay who is a simple computer assembler looking desperately for some work ,Irrfan Khan who is a Tea Vendor , Paresh Rawal who is a Police Constable and R. Madhvan who is working at some organisation on a high post and pay scale . Soha Ali Khan is a typical Television Reporter who just cares at giving news and tries to sensationalize everything like every typical channel does . She is a famous reporter and is ready to get married with her fiance who doesn't like Media because of their irresponsible behaviour .

Kay Kay is an Educated Struggler who struggles for existence and has lot of debts on him . He doesn't like Muslims at all and thinks that all of them are Terrorists . He is very radical about religion and practically hates every Muslim .Madhvan is an upper middle class guy who works and earns but still prefers to travel by Local Train because he thinks that more the people travel by public transport , the more organised the traffic of Mumbai would be and basically cares about our country and loves Mumbai and India a lot . He declines all his offers to go abroad because he likes Mumbai and India a lot .

Irrfan Khan is a very poor and innocent Tea Vendor from south and he tries to adjust in Mumbai with just bare necessities of life . He too wants to go to Malls and Multiplexes and live a life like many people live in Mumbai but he can't . Then there is Paresh Rawal who is a corrupt Police constable who is just about to retire . He is good at heart and quite honest at heart but he also gets involved in the system and can't do anything about it because he is too small a person to do anything about it .

Amongst all of these only two get affected directly from the serial Train Blasts , Madhvan and Soha . Madhvan's friend gets injured and loses his hand and Soha loses her fiance in the blasts . The plot of Madhvan shows how he gets terrified after the blasts as he just narrowly escapes those blasts . He gets scared a lot and he starts having Mental Anxiety problems and his love and trust for Mumbai and India also starts shaking . After the blasts Kay Kay starts probing into blasts himself along with his friends because he has suspicion on some Muslim guys that regularly visit a restaurant but are missing after the blasts . After the blasts the Police start their usual routine of High Alert in the town and try to tighten up the situation of the city . Soha gets the shock of her life and takes a break from her job but her channel decides to do a byte on her . She gives them the permission and faces the same questions that she used to ask early and realises how hard it is . She gets to face the other side of her profession and her perspective changes . Irrfan in order to take his revenge from rich people spreads rumours of Bombs in Malls and watches them run for their life . While doing this he doesn't realise that how much problem he is causing and his rumour can get dangerous .

The whole movie revolves around these different plots with Mumbai being common in all their plots . How they slowly slowly recover from the blasts and how they realise their mistakes and also the fact that though the city has many problems but still it is the spirit of the city that makes them still live their . The whole movie is a mirror image of our society and its happenings . But as they say sometimes others have to show you the mirror to you so that you realise that what flaws you have . The same job has been done by Director Nishikant Kamat who has shown us what we see daily but act like blind people who haven't seen anything .

The film is not made like a typical film that moves according to a single story . This one moves in a random way and portraying each story simultaneously .Each story has something to offer and sends out a message in general . The movie starts off with archive footage of Mumbai and how it has changed over the years . The beginning of the movie is quite strong and creates an impact on the viewer's mind . But it is after sometime that the movie comes into its true element which it has maintained for the entire length .The plot of Irrfan Khan though was quite moving but still it was unnecessary and could have been avoided . Most of the time the film has Serious tone but some scenes have still been dramatized and some being over-dramatized . Especially the scene where Irrfan lifts his both hand and looks towards the sky while a heavy background score is played is quite out of the place and frankly speaking a little stupid also . The movie though surrounds the Mumbai blasts yet it has talked very less about the blasts . The Mumbai blasts have been used more as Publicity tool to attract the audience . Black Friday as we all know is an exceptional film and not only does it focus on the Mumbai Blasts of 1992 but also in the process sends out a strong message .

Talking a little about the acting , the film has some of the finest performances by all the actors in it . Especially Kay Kay and Irrfan who were at their best . Kay Kay is one of the best actors in the Industry yet he has done very few roles and that too mostly in Multi-starrer films . He is one of those actors that get under the skin of the character effortlessly and are quite natural about it . His acting just mesmerizes me and I am a huge fan of him since his Television days . The other fine performance is by Irrfan . His plot though wasn't that strong yet he delivers his best and it is because of him that his plot can be seen . Soha has also done a fine job but she can do much better . Paresh Rawal is a seasoned actor , he also gives a fine performance . The character of a Marathi Constable suits him perfectly . Madhvan's role wasn't that good but he still acts quite well . He also can do much better than this .

Overall , the film is very good but it lacks that cinematic approach and hence would please only selected audience . The Director Nishikant has worked more hard on the scenes rather than the complete film . He has shown some of the most finest scenes and has created several moments throughout the film but there was no common thread that could hold all these moments and hence you have a feeling after watching the film that something was missing . The Acting , Direction , Cinematography and Background Score were all good but that soul is what was missing . But still , the film is different type of cinema and it should be appreciated for its effort . The film though might not work that much but has certainly won all the accolades that it could have .

Indian Audience has seen such type of cinema very few times and Documentaries have also never got popular in India thats why this film also won't work on a commercial level . The Director has worked differently on the Five Stories of Five People and if you are ready to accept that then only you can watch it .

Still , the film is recommended from my side because it has very strong messages in it that have been presented in an excellent manner . The film has some of the finest acting performances and number of moments that make it worth a watch .The film also shows the life of Mumbai and Mumbaikars in a very realistic manner so it is a must watch for all the Mumbaikars . The film ends with the Famous song "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan , Zara Hatke, Zara Bach ke, ye he Bombay meri Jaan " which very well puts up the entire lifestyle of the city .

Movie Rating : Three and Half out of Five Stars ; Fabulous acting and some great moments .

Krazzy 4 --- Movie Review

Filmkraft's latest release Krazzy 4 released this week with a lot of hype surrounding its title track and it seems that it is nowadays becoming a fashion to have some controversy during the release of a film . Anyways , the film has released along with its Title track starring SRK an HR . But in spite of the two tracks performed by them the film still has to connect with audience to survive at the Box office and Krazzy 4 fails to an extent in that department . The film is Directed by the assistant director of Rakesh Roshan , Jaideep Sen . Though he is a debutant Director but the commercial elements of Krazzy four remind us of the movie that Rakesh use to once make like Koyla and Karan-Arjun . The same Dialogues , filled with emotions and melodrama are in excess in this movie . And as a result the film will not go down well with the more practical and less emotional audiences of the Metros . But it can do quite well in smaller centers because it is a typical commercial film with a lot of Patriotism in it . Sounds strange isn't it ? A comedy film with Patriotism , that too releasing nowhere near Independence Day or Republic Day . But thats the truth of the film . It makes a remark on the society of today and shows that how crazy , people are getting today and how the people at a mental institute are much better than those roaming on the streets in crores like us .

The film as the name suggests has Four crazy yet not so crazy people - Rajpal , Irfan , Arshad and Suresh . They have a doctor (Juhi) who takes them out of the institute just to treat them as a normal human beings and how her whole plan gets messed up and in the process the not so crazy people make other people crazy and make us feel that how crazy are we that we are sitting , watching this film . Just kiddin , the film isn't that bad either but it still is not as it could have been . The people expect a good film from Producer after films like Koi mil Gaya and Krissh , but they get something quite low from their expectations .

Well , the story proceeds and their Doctor(Juhi) gets Kidnapped and how they not only catch the kidnappers but also expose the dirty nexus of Police , Criminals , Politicians and Businessmen . The businessman behind Juhi's kidnap being her husband itself Rajat Kapoor . The film is of only just over two hours but the still it moves so slowly that it kinda gets loose at several points . The basic film of the story is just this much -- 4 people who are not so crazy help catch the kidnappers of their doctor . And around this short story is the whole Patriotic and society addressing message has been wrapped up and a film has been made . People who are expecting a good comedy will get disappointed because it has comic moments but not that funny .

Overall , it has clean humour with a message for society which has been given in a typical melodramatic way . The message has not been delivered in the way movies like Munnabhai M.B.B.S. or Rang De Basanti did . The producers thought of the message first and then wrapped a story around that message . Whereas it was the other way round in case of Munnabhai and RDB . Both had a story first which had an underlying message in it . And everybody knows what impact these movie had on society in large .

The acting performances by all the actors are decent and Juhi Chawla is back in her typical "Crying" and pathetic dialogues that don't even suit her . I don't know why Directors make her cry when she is quite a bubbly girl in real life . She has nothing much in the entire film , yet she reminds us of her peak days when she used to cry in her movies like Darr and Daraar (starring Arbaz Khan ) . Rajpal is as always at his best and Suresh doesn't speak at all but still performs well . Irfan has also performed well and Arshad warsi looks good only as a second lead and cannot carry the entire film on his shoulders . There are few technical glitches in the film but overall it is quite OK and might be liked by emotionally patriotic audiences . The movie is bound to do well due to its family nature and the summer holidays being on , the kids will drag their parents to the cinemas . It has a lesson or two for kids .

One special thing about the film is that it has our National Anthem in it so guys remember to stand while you see it and don't shy away from your responsibility . When I watched the movie I was very proud to see every-body in the audi standing up to respect our national anthem . Don' wait for others , take a step and do it . Those who laugh at you are the real CRAZY people and let them laugh .

Overall , the film is not that good , as it has quite less content in it . But , if you still can digest the melodrama and are very emotionally patriotic , then you might like this movie and you can watch it once . Strictly guys if you are expecting an out and out comedy , forget it . Apart from the Title song and Rakhi's song the other songs are quite boring and make the movie slow to an extent . Rajesh Roshan has failed on his part and even Ashwini Dhir who has written the film has done quite less. Weak Script and the screenplay even weaker . Cinematography is good and the choreography is great . The set designed for SRK's song was a treat to watch apart from the song itself . So , the art Director has also done a great job .

Watch it if you have got nothing else to do and if " Khuda Kay lie " is still in the cinema halls then I would refer that one more if you like off-beat more than commercial .

Movie Rating : Two Out of Five Stars , weak script and Direction .

Trailer review --- Krazzy 4

The first film as a full time producer for Rakesh Roshan has taken shape in the form of Krazzy 4 and the movie is all set to roll out in the month of April . The Movie stars Arshad Warsi , Irfan Khan , Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon as a group of 4 krazzy people . The first trailer of the movie is out now along with "Sunday" and it looks like another movie with ensemble cast is set to release . The trailer of the movie is also in a movie with ensemble cast . But the difference in the two is the presence of a solo star . While Sunday has Ajay Devgan as a solo star wheras Krazzy 4 has no one in it . The movie would have to be directed really well and the script would also play a big role in its success .

Talking of the promo it gives a brief intro of the krazzy cast . The first krazy guy is Arshad Warsi who is shown crazy for Anger , probably that means he gets angry soon .
Next on the list is Irfan Khan who is crazy for Cleanliness . Then comes Rajpal Yadav who is crazy for Freedom and last but not least Suresh Menon who is simply crazy . All of them probably run from some mental institute and start their crazy n funny activities in public . All of them are crazy yet not so crazy . Their is a series of crazy n funny sequences in the trailer to show their level of craziness . Then comes in the name of probably the most important of them all , that is , the director Jaideep Sen . Jaideep has earlier worked as an assistant director to Rakesh in Krissh and also in several other films . Do not confuse him with Jaideep Sahni of Chak De fame .

Apart from these the movie also has Juhi Chawla as a Doctor and Dia Mirza . It also has Rajat Kapoor who is now seen in many movies and is a fantastic actor .
The movie doesn't have the Big stars but it does have for sure two Item Numbers from two of the Biggest stars of Bollywood , SRK and Hrithik . Combined with brilliant music of Rajesh Roshan , the movie would pull the crowd for sure initially but then it would be upto the film . The Problem with Director Producers' is that they intervene in the film making and I know they can't help it . I hope such a situation wouldn't have created that Rakesh would have had to intervene . Because when two of the guys call the shots the projects goes somewhere else and loses direction .

The Promo looks good and with the coming few days we'll no more about the movie and its music which is a big factor for any movie's success .

SUNDAY --- Movie Review

The team of Golmaal is back again , with some new members , at the box-office in the form of their latest offering - Sunday . The movie has explored a new genre that is comedy-thriller and that to in an almost perfect manner . Earlier Priyadarshan tried this concept with three of his movies Bhagambhaag , Dhol & Bhul-bhulaiya of which only the last one worked . Bhul-bhulaiya also lost track in between and turned into a psycho-thriller rather than pure comedy thriller . Well this movie doesn't do that . It is a pure comedy-thriller right from start till the end .

Talking of the movie it involves many characters and all are linked to each other in some or the other way . The central character is that of Ayesha Takia (as Seher ) who is a girl who Dubs for the Cartoon Characters and has a problem of forgetting things . She has a friend in form of Anjana Sukhani . There is a murder right at the start of the movie and the plot revolves around that murder . Ayesha meets certain people who she doesn't know yet they keep following her . One of those people is Arshad Warsi who is a Taxi Driver and his customer , a struggling actor , Irfan Khan . Both of them have a fantastic comic timing and they deliver their best along with Vrijesh Hirjee who is a Karate Teacher . Vrijesh is a fantastic actor who is very under-rated and unexplored . Ayesha is also chased by some killers who keep attacking her time to time . Getting confused she goes to Ajay Devgan who is a corrupt cop who does his job well but takes "hafta" for it . Ajay Devgan based on some clues starts the investigation and it turns out that Ayesha has forgotten one whole day and that days happpenings . Then starts the search for the Missing Sunday and what happened on that Sunday with ayesha involving one more Murder .

Rohit Shetty the Director needs to be applauded for his effort . He not only made a completely different movie from Golmaal but also kept the spirit of that movie alive in this one . The script of the movie is quite original and well written . The movie is said to be inspired by some south-Indian flick but anyways the script is a really well written . It is a pretty fast-paced movie without anything that is stuffed in without any reason . The movie has a lot of use of Frames in a single shot which was first seen in Nikhil Advani's "Kal Ho Na Ho" . The Interval of the movie is also done in an interesting and novel manner .

The cinematography is also good with Delhi shown on screen like never before . The whole movie is based in Delhi and explores the city . The music is also good with songs suiting the situations very well apart from the song "Loot Liya " which doesn't make any sense . The Movie has several surprise moments that will thrill you and also some fantastic Action sequences . Rohit has a love for Cars and Car chase sequences . This movie also has many car chase scenes with a lot of action like his earlier movie had . The comedy in the movie is also quite situational and original . Nothing stupid and over the top . The background score is also good .

Talking of Acting performances , Ajay and Mukesh Tiwary look like real Delhi cops with typical accents and behaviour . Mukesh is also under-rated and rarely used . Ayesha has given a good performance and she stands well with these fine actors . Arshad and Irfan are great and shared good chemistry . Tushar and Esha look great in their guest appearances and Anjana has very little to offer .

Overall the movie is almost a flawless product and keeps you entertained throughout.
The comedy is great along with the suspense . The screenplay is tight and grippy . The movie will work among the masses considering it has all the elements of an entertainer . The collections would be good as their is no good movie coming in few days ahead before Jodha-Akbar .

Movie Rating
: 3.75 out of five for a pure comedy-thriller in its element .

SUNDAY -- Trailer Review

Rohit Shetty , the Director of GOLMAAL - Fun Unlimited , is back with his latest offering for the viewers in the form of SUNDAY . The first trailer is out now and I am quiet impressed . It definitely leaves an impression on your mind .

The trailer starts off with a Dog Barking and then there is an Introduction of the starcast which starts with Ajay Devgan who plays a Corrupt Cop , then Arshad Waarsi who plays a Crook Cab Driver , then Irrfan Khan who plays an Actor (funny one) and at last there is a mystery Girl , guess who , none other than Aayesha Takia .

After a quick intro the trailer shows all the different scenes of the movie which exhibit the Following Six Elements in the same order :
1. Thrills
2. Fun
3. Dance
4. Suspence
5. Romance
6. & last but not least Action .

During the entire trailer (122.3 sec to be precise) the title song of Sunday keeps playing in the background and the scenes keep changing rapidly with very few dialogues . Well there is another surprise before the trailer ends , a sneak peek of one more actor of the film Esha Deol . She is a secret . Then at last Ajay says " इसका मतलब तुम्हारी life से एक दीन missing है । " & that is of-course SUNDAY .

The entire trailer is very fast paced and the Director has shown many things in just 2 minutes . This one promises to be a Good One , the stunts and action sequences are also quite amazing . Ajay is best in the Action sequences and the movie also has a mystery and Comedy . This would be quite enough to attract the audineces to the Cinema halls .

The producers are Kumar Mangat ( which means Ajay also is a Ghost producer ) and EROS International . Considering the success of Golmaal this one also looks promising but expectations would be running high after Golmaal . I hope this one also turns out to be as entertaining as the first one . The movie is set to release in Jan 2008 and would be New Year's gift from Ajay and company .
