Kambakkht Ishq Music Review

DISCLAIMER: I am not at all related to any bollywood stars and I am not conspiring against Akshay Kumar . My views are independent and unadulterated .

This year so far hasn't been so good for films as such and it has been particularly not good for Akshay who has already had two disasters and all his hopes are lying on his next release Kambakkht Ishq . I am personally not a fan of "Nadiadwaala" films (producer Sajid Nadiadwala) and most of their films are big budget crappy commercial cinema for me . Though their films work at box office because of their commercial nature and this is probably why stars don't say no to him . The only decent film coming from Nadiadwala's has been Jaan-e-mann which by the way didn't work on the box office . So one thing is clear that I don't expect much from their films but one thing that has been not so bad about their films is the music . Most films have had commercial yet decent bit of music which were an important factor in their film's success . This album has provided exactly what I was expecting from it , senseless crappy commercial music . Anu Malik who mostly doesn't work these days has been out of form n touch and it is quite evident in this album .

Lets get down to songs , first comes Om Mangalam . This one has been written, composed and performed by RDB , a regulation in all Akshay's films these days . RDB are a good bunch of kids and they do good with music and singing but certainly not with lyrics . They should leave the job of writing for some professionals . In terms of music though this one is amongst the better tracks on the album and would get most popular from the entire lot . I personally didn't like this song because it is mostly copy-paste job i.e. same part has been repeated over and over again in this song . Take a look at the lyrics "Meri Fasne ki nahi Chahat thi , lekin kismat ne mujhe rahat di " ; what the hell does this mean !! Anyways its just a commercial track and this is what is expected .

Next comes "Lakh Lakh" by Neeraj Sridhar . This one is a very average and mediocre kinda track . Nothing new about it . We've heard such commercial tracks in the past and such tracks will keep coming . The music is also pretty basic and Anu would have composed this effortlessly . The lyrics are also so so by Anvita Dutt Guptan who shot into fame after her work in Bachna Ae Hasino . The lyrics here are very commercial and make very less sense .

Then we have a track called "Bebo" by Alisha Chinoy . Anu always asks Alisha to sing a song in his album and this is probably why Alisha wouldn't have said no to this track . Again , this one is also pretty much mediocre and reminded me of the early Alisha tracks that she sung in the beginning of her career , the music was also from that era . This track would have worked 15 years back from now but it won't work at all today . Kareena would love this track as she loves herself probably more than anyone else and after this she wouldn't mind working again in Nadiadwala's next film too , even if this one doesn't work .

Then comes a second title track , this time by Anu Malik . One more disappointment . This one by KK and Sunidhi has even crappier lyrics than the previous one . "Sunidhi , I plead to you , Please stop singing songs like this !! Please , you wouldn't want people to remember you for songs like these ." And what happened to KK , when did he started singing such songs . Bad track and Anu needs to seriously think of retiring . This track might work by the way as there is an audience for such tracks too .

Then comes a decent track "Kyun" by Shreya and Shaan . This track is a little better than the previous tracks and when I heard this one , it reminded me of the Title track of Yaadein (Hrithik-Kareena Disaster) . If you don't remember , Yaadein's title track had a "Sargam" part in it which roughly forms the base of this track in some parts . Yaadein's music was also composed by Anu Malik so I cannot accuse him of stealing . Though inspired from here and there still it is a decent track and the lyrics are good . So in all it is a little different from the other commercial tracks on the album and provides a welcoming change .

Then come a series of remixes of the songs that we've heard till now starting from reprise edition of RDB's version of title track . Only a bit faster and extra bass beasts in it , nothing more . Then comes a "Electro Dhol Mix" of Lakh Lah which doesn't make it any better . Then comes a "club mix" of Bebo with some girl moaning in the background to make it sound sensual . Nothing more to it . Then comes a remix version of Anu's version of Title Track , this one remixed by K&G , a little different from the original version , not that good but better than other remixes .

Shreya sings a complete female version of "Kyun" next which again provides a necessary change after the series of needless remixes . This one is no different than the previous one and just Shaan is absent from this one .

At last comes "Welcome to Hollywood" composed by Salim-Sulaiman . By putting some tiny-winy guest appearances of Sylvester,Denise Richards and Brandon Routh , Sajid claims that this film will bridge gaps between Hollywood and Bollywood . He he what a joke !! As if he has casted Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise in a lead role for a Hindi film . Well anyways , this music by Salim-Sulaiman is certainly not their best and they have done better . The English lyrics in this one by Sabbir Khan are just there for the sake of adding a western touch . Anushka sings well and she strangely is absent from good songs even after giving a hit title track in the original Golmaal .

Overall , this album can be avoided and it has very less to offer if you are looking for some good music . If you like commercial music then buy it at your own risk . Anu Malik once again disappoints and I think he needs to forget that he is a big music director and needs to work like a new guy . Waise I am too small a guy in stature to give him any advice .

Album Rating : Two out of Five ; mediocre music with very few decent tracks .

Billu Barber -- Music Review

The long awaited film of Priyadarshan and SRK that starrs Irrfan Khan in the lead , Billu Barber , is finally ready for release and the music of the film is out now . The film has been produced by SRK's Red Chillies Productions and that means this project means more to SRK than anyone else . This film is again a remake of a south film which has been already made twice in Malayalam and Telugu . The Telugu version called Kuselan recently released having Rajnikant playing the part which SRK is playing . The film still failed at the box office and its failure raised some concerns for SRK and hence this film also got delayed . The original Malayalam version , Katha Parayumpol and the telegu version both have been written by Sreenivasan . Billu Barber was first supposed to release before RNBDJ but got delayed and now it is releasing in February . The film also stars Lara Dutta and several other Priyadarshan's usual like Om Puri and Rajpal Yadav etc.

Well ,Talking of soundtrack , it consists of Fifteen Tracks in total out of which Seven are original and eight being remixes . The remixes again outnumber the originals on the soundtrack but good thing is that some of those have been sung by different singers so sound a little different . This time it is Pritam who has done the job and lyrics are by various artists . The soundtrack is for its majority a commercial one and when it comes to commercial music there is no one better than Pritam for the job .

The first track on the soundtrack is , Marjaani , which is already on-air and generating the hype for the film . The song as you all now has Kareena in it along with SRK and has some usual fun and frolic . The lyrics on this one are by Gulzaar and are as expected good enough to make this song a hit . The lyrics and music together give it a popular feel and the song would work for sure among the listeners . Sukhwinder and Sunidhi do a good job as usual and Sukhwinder is one more reason why this song could get popular .

Next comes , Love mera Hit Hit , sung by Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar . The lyrics on this one are by Ashish Pandit and Mayur Puri who do a good job and made the lyrics pretty catchy . Pritam also does a good job and gives it a commercial tune which makes the song even more catchy and makes it a potential hit . This one starrs Deepika Padukone and SRK , shaking legs together . Neeraj sings it in his usual style with Tulsi giving him good support .

The third and the final track which again has a guest appearance of Priyanka Chopra in it , You Get Me Rockin and Reelin , is a a little on the slower and sensual side . The song has Priyanka and SRK getting cosy and trying to set the screen on fire . If you don't know then let me tell you that all these three songs are a part of a film which is shown to be shot in Billu's village . Since these songs are shown a part of a film in the film itself the Director has made an effort to keep the songs as commercial as possible because SRK is shown as a commercial superstar in the film . Still , this song is pretty melodious and doesn't sound like usual commercial songs . Neeraj does a fine job singing this one and makes sure that it sounds different . The lyrics on this one are by Sayyed Quadri who does a good job .

After this comes a very very commercial track , Ae Aa O , which would look good in the film only and would make more sense in the film . The song would probably be featured when SRK first comes to the village and it would be somewhat of a introductory song . The lyrics on this one are by Neeraj Sridhar and it has been sung by KK ,Rana Mazumder & Suraj . The song in all is more film oriented and doesn't make much sense apart from it . KK surprisingly has been offered such an average track which anyone could have done .

The fifth track , Jaoon Kahan , is completely different from the previous four and is a sad song which has been written by Sayeed Quadri who does a great job on this one . The song features Irrfan Khan who as we all know is a brilliant actor so he might make you feel really sad through his acting . The lyrics are really good on this and reminds of "Jag Soona Soona Lage" from Om Shanti Om . Like that one this has been also sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who again does a great job . Pritam has also done a good job and given it a nice and simple tune . The song is a complete package of good lyrics , music and singing . Such songs gain popularity much more after the film releases and I am sure with the release of the film this one also would get much more popular .

Next comes a very different and Desi track , Billu Bhayankar . This one has some very interesting piece of lyrics written by Gulzaar Sir himself and he again proves his expertise in the "Thainth Desi" language after songs like Kajrare and Bidi Jalayle . This one though is not a item song like the previous two but that doesn't mean that it lacks any fun . This one is a fun track from the word go and would be real treat on screen , I am pretty sure about that . The track talks about Billu Hajam the central character . This track would definately remind you of Khaike Pan Banaras Waala which had a similar feel . Pritam has done full justice to the song and given it a very pure desi tune to it . The biggest role in such songs as you know is of the singer and his/her accent . And on that front Ajay Jhingaran , Raghuveer and Kalpana do a commendable job .

Next comes probably the most melodious and lyrically rich song , Khudaya Khair . This one has been written by Gulzaar Sir . This song and the third track on the album , You get me rocking , have somewhat same lyrics and I don't know which one is the original one . Still , this one is much more melodious and some extra lyrics in this one that are there add much more to its beauty . If that one had a little western feel to it , this one has none . Pritam has done his best on this as compared to the other songs on the album . The female parts that have been sung by Akriti and Monali sound really good . Soham does a good job singing the male parts but for me Neeraj would have suited much more . This is the song that was there in the first trailer of the film and I am sure this one would be featured on Lara Dutta (my favourite) who is looking really beautiful in the promos . I am happy that she got the best track on the album .

Then starts the series of Remixes and first one is the Video Edit of Rockin n Reelin . I didn't find this one any different from the original one in terms of music . This one though has Dominc Cezaro siniging some female parts . If you remember Dominic made her debut in Rock On with " Yeh Tumhari Meri Baatein ". She does her part well . Rest all is the same .

Then come remix versions of "Love Mera Hit Hit" and "Marjaani" which have been remixed by DJ Amyth and Kilogram K&G respectively . Both the remix versions have usual fast pace tempo and some extra english lyrics . Nothing great about them as such and good for clubs and discs . The remix version of Mar Jaani has been sung by KK and Akriti Kakkar so KK fans won't get disappointed .

Next comes a reprise edition of "Khudaya Khair" which has Abhijeet giving vocals and rest all is the same . The song doesn't suit him that much as much it did to Neeraj and Soham . This one being a reprise edition is a little slow . If this was not enough there is one more remix of "You Get Me rockin n reeling" which again is a basic remix with higher tempo and usual DJing .

Then there is a remix of Ae Aa O , I don't know why . The original track itself was a little weak so this one doesn't make any difference . One more Marjaani by DJ Sunil and Spinz who remix the original track and do a good job . This is the pick among the remixes . Then there is a remix of Love Mera Hit Hit which is better than the previous remix of the same song .

In all , its a nice soundtrack with a mix of commercial tracks and good tracks like Khudaya and Jaoon Kahan . It also has very different tracks like Billu Bhayankar . The only thing that was a put off was the long list of unnecessary remixes that made me change my mind for rating the album . I was going to give it a four stars but the irritating remixes which are just too many made me change my rating . In all , the soundtrack has increased my curiosity for the film and I am now even more eagerly waiting for the film . The film in my opinion would be a nice film that would be liked by all .

Album Rating : Three and Half Stars out of Five ; Great soundtrack with a nice mix of different songs .

Golmaal Returns --- Music Review

The first thing that comes to my mind while listening to tracks from Golmaal Returns soundtrack is that it is an outright commercial album . The original Golmaal had songs that were written and composed by Vishal Shekhar and hence they were not only good on commercial scale but also had some nice lyrics and tunes to back'em up . This one though is composed by Pritam and has lyrics by the king of commercial lyrics , Sameer . Sameer if you don't know has written most of the songs of the 90's that had lyrics like " Teri Naani Mari to mein kya karoo " so don't expect anything in terms of lyrics . Then on musical terms we have the Great Thief himself , Pritam , so expect a tune that you would have definitely listened to , somewhere else.

Moving on , the first track on the album is "Tha Kar Ke" whose meaning I don't know . This one has been composed by Ashish Pandit and he grabs the popular tune of the Spanish song Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and mixes it with some strange lyrics by Sameer and creates a very commercial track . The lyrics are not that catchy and the tune and lyrics are bit of a mismatch . The track though is a commercial one yet it won't get popular as a "Kajrare" of BAB or "Beedi Jalayle" of Omkara did . The song is majorly sung by Neeraj Sridhar and some bits are by other singers . The singers do a decent job but it is the tune and lyrics that spoil the whole show . The song on a whole can be listened only once , the music though would sound better on a good music system . Still , I would any day prefer listening to Gasolina instead of this one .

The next track on the soundtrack is "Vacancy" which is also the title track and has a very groovy tune attached to it . Lyrics once again have nothing new and are quite commercial . In fact , it is the English Lyrics by Neeraj Sridhar that have done most of the job . He has also sung the song and as usual is good at whatever he does and such songs suit only him among male singers .He is also backed up by Suzie Q. in some parts where she also does a fine job. I can now identify her voice anywhere especially after recent hit "Jee Karda" in singh is kinng . The song on a whole is good but not as good as the title track of original golmaal was . Anushka Manchanda got instant fame with that one . That one in my opinion was much cooler and groovier than this one yet this one is also not that bad .

Next comes "Tu Saala" by Anushka Manchanda . This one is again a completely commercial track and has nothing much to offer . Anushka sings well but the the music and lyrics on this make it an average track . I can't write anything more about the track apart from the fact that it is a commercial track that would look bad even in the movie . Still , I don't how the video on this one looks and probably the video might pull it off a disaster . The good part though is that it is just 3.5 minutes long and also quite pacy so won't damage the pace of the film .

Next comes a song called "Meow" which is a little on the sensuous side so it would have a Hot video with one or all the leading ladies showing off their assets . This one again is a little different and not that commercial . Yet the lyrics and tune are not good enough to make it a popular song . The singing and lyrics by Suzie Q. are great and she does a very fine job . She can definitely sing English tracks with utmost perfection . She would have gone a long way if she would have been in West . Though she has sung many songs yet she has not got that perfect English track that could make her popular . This one has both Hindi and English lyrics and hence is a nice blend . Pritam does a good job but nothing extraordinary .

Then comes an English Version of Meow which is also almost same as the original one but has no Hindi lyrics in it . Suzie comes in full form in this one and gives a fabulous performance . In all , same as the original one with some extra English lyrics .

Then there are four remix tracks , the first one being the remix of Vacancy . The remix has been done K&G and they have not done much apart from just making it more pacy than the original one . The next remix is of Tha Kar ke which again is just a paced up version with some extra effects of the original one . This one has been remixed by DJ Amyth who has done quite a regular job and nothing new .Then there is a remix of Meow which has been done by DJ Nikhil and DJ Naved who have done a good job and given the song a different touch . This one is different from the original one and is also worth listening . The whole concept of remix is that it should sound completely different from the original and Nikhil and Naaved do a fine job in that respect .
The last remix is that of Tu saala which has been done by Bunty Rajput who does nothing but add some bass to the original one .

After these there are also some bonus tracks which are the original songs from the previous golmaal and are much better than these . That album was much original and had some very nice tunes and lyrics that made it a quite popular album . We can still see the songs from the original one being aired on Music channels whereas these won't even get one fourth of the airtime that those have got .

In all , the album is commercial one and has only two songs , Vacancy and Meow which are worth listening . The two that I have mentioned are also good comparatively and are just ordinary in general sense . The lyricist has not done much hard work and even the music director has done quite usual job .

Album Rating : Two out of Five Stars ; Commercial and quite a disappointment as compared to the soundtrack from the first golmaal .

Gomaal Returns --- Trailer Review

Last year was full of comedy flicks that ruled the box office . The long line up included Welcome , Partner , Heyy Babyy , Bhul Bhulaiya ,Dhamaal , Bheja Fry etc . All of them were box office success and everyone started believing that Comedy films are the roads to success . On the contrary this year very few comedies got released and the few that got released suffered at the box office . This year films like Sunday , One Two Three , Mr. Black Mr. White , De Taali , Ugly aur Pugly and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-azam released that were all rejected by both audience and critics . All of these films didn't have neither the script nor the star power . The only comedy film that worked this year is Singh is Kinng . In fact it is the biggest box-office success of the year . Well , trying to break the streak of bad comedies this year comes a sequel to a big comedy hit , Golmaal , with the entire team along with some new faces .

The first trailer of Golmaal Returns is out now and from the looks of trailer it seems that a potential comedy hit is on its way . This time though the Golmaal series gets a little more star studded with Kareena joining in the group along with the other girls like Celina , Amrita Arora and Anjana Sukhani . So this time every guy has his own girl to woo . One guy has also changed , Sharman has been replaced by Shreyas Talpade .

Talking of the trailer , it starts off with some flashback scenes of Golmaal . While these scenes are played a line comes on screen which says that all the fun and madness of Golmaal will return this Diwali along with the fools . After this we see Tushar in his typical voice communicating on a Phone . Then comes the introduction scene of Ajay standing on two Hummers this time instead of two bikes . After Ajay comes Kareena riding on a Honda Motorbike in her new born sexy avatar . After the two stars the rest of the group is introduced one by one doing their respective stunts , Arshad along with Amrita , Shreyas along with Celina and Anjana along with Tushar . Then the whole group is shown dancing to the new Golmaal song which also sounds quite groovy like the original one did . While the whole track is been played in background some more shots of all the leads are shown which keep showing them doing some stunts and comedy . Some of those scenes are quite funny and some them being quite old . There's a scene that shows a Goa Police Van which means that this one is set up in Goa . The entire trailer majorly focuses on the title track with some of the scenes from the movie inserted in between . The scenes made me believe that there would be all kinds of Jokes in this one . Some very old jokes and some quite new . All the stupidity and Gay Jokes along with some age old Sex comedy would be present there . Then at last come a few mindless action scenes that are always part of a Rohit Shetty film . He has a fascination for toppling cars , he did this in both of his films whether its Golmaal or Sunday . Then at last comes a line that says "Have a Blast This Diwali" .

Lets hope that we do have a blast while watching this film and this one turns out to be as good as the original . Expectations are quite high since Golmaal was big hit and that one was loved even by the critics . That film had situational comedy and the script in itself was quite strong . I just hope they don't create situations in this one and the scripts has them inherently . The whole chemistry between the actors is looking great but chemistry would do no good if the script isn't funny . This one though doesn't have Sharman who is basically very good at comedy and his absence would definitely damage the film a bit . He is replaced by Shreyas who is also a great actor but he would look good only if the character has been written well . His behaviour and acting isn't that funny so he needs a very well written character so that he can portray it well . His character in OSO was a strong one and he delivered it accordingly .Lets hope he fits in the boots of Sharman exactly like him . Kareena can also do comedy and her character is that of Saas-Bahu daily soap lover . She might turn out to be the funniest character in the film .

Talking of Director , Rohit Shetty , I hope he doesn't do what he did in Sunday . He should stop stuffing in mindless action that is not required in the script . This film would be a real test for him since his last film Sunday failed at the box office . Ajay also hasn't had the best year with Halla Bol and Sunday not doing well and his Directional debut U , Me or Hum also doing so so . The year has also been bad for Kareena with her Tashan not impressing anyone .

In all , the trailer looks good with usual funny scenes from the film and a very good sounding song in the background . The film is all set to release on October 29 on the Diwali's Eve . Check out the trailer (courtesy Youtube , not uploaded by me ) :

First Look --- Kidnap and 3 Idiots

The first look of two films , Kidnap and 3 Idiots , are out now . One being the next of Aamir Khan after Ghazni and other being the next of his cousin Imran . Lets talk about the Aamir one first .

The Teaser poster of Aamir's next venture as an actor , 3 Idiots , is out now and its one of those posters that say a lot about the film and create an interest beforehand . The film as everyone knows is based on the Famous novel "Five Point Someone" which is based on a group of students from IIT and their misadventures of their college lives . The film is to be Directed by Rajkumar Hirani who will be directing something different from Munnabhai for the first time . This film would be a real test for him as a Director . The Producer is the same , Vidhu Vinod chopra who has produced both of Hirani's film . The film also starrs R. Madhvan and Sharman Joshi as supporting cast and will also have Kareena as the main female lead .

Now talking a little about the poster which has shown Aamir pressing against a blackboard which has Problems of Calculus written all over it . Amir is having his cropped hair cut and I don't know how would he be able to play a role of Boy who is half the age of what he is right now . We know thatAmir is a a great actor and can almost play any role with utmost perfection but I don't understand till when he and his contemporaries are going to play such roles . The Directors need to find some new talent now and they need to take risks . Anyways , as I said the poster says a lot about the film especially the tag line which goes like this " chose excellence - success will follow" . The poster reminds me of Good Will Hunting and A Beautiful Mind where two geniuses keep solving their calculations with anything that they find .

We know that this film would be adaptation of a famous novel that has been read by a huge block of people so it would be interesting to see for the first time in Indian film industry , people responding to an onscreen adaptation of a Famous book . Though Devdas has also been adapted many times and several such other stories but those stories had been read only by a few selected people and not by a people at large . This would be probably the first such experience when people will react to a film based on a book . This film and book might also lead to a new fashion of Adapted Screenplays and for sure create two new categories in all the league of Awards - "Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay " . The award guys will get too happy since they like to distribute more and more awards and please everyone in the Industry . So even if Hirani doesn't gets best film he can at least get "Best Adapted Screenplay" and be happy .

Well , I still hope that Hirani gets the best film award and the film turns out to be as good as the novel is .

Now Talking a little about the next release of Imran Khan , Kidnap , whose trailer is running in the cinema halls along with Singh is Kinng . This is the second film of Imran whose first film has proven to be biggest hit of 2008 up till now (Singh is Kinng might overtake it ) . In Jaane Tu... Imran Played a role that was meant for him and he had just needed to be natural whereas his acting skills will be tested in this film where he plays a not so good guy and his role has a negative side to it .

The film is Directed by Dhoom Fame Sanjay Gadhvi and it also starrs Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba . This film would be Gadhvi's first film which is not produced by Yashraj . In this one Sanjay plays a role of the Richest Indian in the World and what happens when his Daughter gets Kidnapped by a guy played by Imran .

Talking a little about the teaser trailer , it starts with Sanjay (Vikrant Raina) being introduced and his net worth is shown which is in Billions . Then Imran is shown in a completely different look than what he had in Jaane Tu.. , making the Kidnaper's Call to Sanjay .He Kidnaps Sanjay's Daughter played by Minissha . Then starts a series of scenes which show that Sanjay instead of Paying the ransom decides to chase Imran down and catch him . The film looks like a good thriller from the scenes that have been shown in the Trailer and the background score used in Trailer is also good .Sanjay looks more like a Dude and the title of "Richest Indian in the World" doesn't go with his personality . For such a role a Corporate personality is needed , someone like Rajat Kapoor might have looked better .

Anyways , the trailer looks good and the film looks a little inspired from Mel Gibson starrer 1996 hit Ransom . That one was Directed by Ron Howard (Director - Da Vinci Code) and he is an intelligent man and he made a nice pacy thriller . This one , I am sure has many Indian elements in it with a probable love angle between Minissha and Imran . I hope that Both Sanjay Gadhvi and Imran prove themselves apart from their Debut attempts . Imran has done a great thing by signing this film and would prevent him from getting trapped in a Chocolate Boy image . But this might even prove a big risk if he is not able to play the role properly .

The film is all set to release on October 2 which is roughly one and half months from now . It would be interesting to see audience reaction to Imran especially after Jaane Tu .. which is still running in some of the Cinema Halls . Check out the Trailer :

Tashan --- Movie Review

Yash Raj couldn't go lower than this , this is what comes to my mind the moment I think of one line that could describe this movie . As I expected , Tashan is even worse than Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom . JBJ at least had good songs in it , this one doesn't even have that . There is no Script , no Direction and no specific theme . They (Yash Raj) have made a complete blunder attempt of Film Noire genre and have gone nowhere near that Genre of Films . This movie is so pathetic that I would rather refer you guys to watch movies of the 90's like Gundaaraj etc. which had more or less the same theme as this movie has but it had the actors that were meant to do such films . When I see great actors like Anil and Kareena Kapoor doing such pathetic film I really get disappointed . Why do they accept such films ? Just because its a Yash Raj film doesn't mean that it has to be done .

I don't want to waste my time talking on such a piece of crap and in short this film is a piece of shit and I am quite sure this piece of shit would be liked by several sections of audiences . This movie has just one line script and and Yashraj is lowering its standard day by day . Vulgar and cheap dialogues spoken by some of the most respected artists of our industry is what Tashan all about . The production house that has given films like Chak De India , Hum Tum , Salaam Namaste , Bunty Babli, Dhoom etc. should not even think of making such a low grade movie , but Yashraj have not only thought of it but even gone ahead and wasted a lot of bucks on it . Sad part though , is that people come to watch such a movie to theater because of the star cast in it and in the process the production house redeems all its production cost even though if people didn't like the film and this gives the production house courage to make some more like this . I am quite sure that though Tashan would not be liked by people at large but still it would recover all its production cost and on the other hand good films like Manorama - 6 feet Under and Johnny Gaddar don't even recover their production cost just because it didn't have the star power .

There is nothing to talk about the film thats why I am talking more in a general way and not Film Specific . The movie has some skin show by Kareena Kapoor who doesn't suit at all in a zero figure and some pathetic comedy by anil and akshay . And it also has some over the top action sequences that make no sense at all and the entire movie resembles a B grade film with a lump-sum budget . The music is pathetic and I could see audiences moving out of cinema halls during the songs . I also remember a guy sitting close buy saying that such movies were made 15 years ago . He is quite right and I must add to it that 15 years ago the times were different and such a movie would suite in those times but not today . But I still could see people hooting on some cheap and vulgar acts of the stars and it made me feel that despite the weak script and poor direction this movie might work beacuse of the vulgarity in it . I think that its high time now that people should stop watching Yash Raj films in such large numbers just beacuse of its star cast . I would rather donate the 100 bucks to some charity organization rather than wasting it on such a movie . If this is done by all of you imagine the crores that the charity organization could get and put them to at least some good use .

Seriously guys don't waste your precious time on this one . I did it and I am repenting for it .And if any of you liked this movie then I would refer you to go out to the DVD store and rent some more like this of the 90's , you would love them even more than this one . One advice for Yash Raj that money is temporary thing and if you have it today put it to good use or else it will end one day and then no one is gonna help you .
Short Term profit from such movie will become Long Term loss and will one day cost you your prestige . Aditya should appoint more people like shimit amin and stop wasting their money on guys like Vijay Krishna Acharya and Kunal Kohli etc. And as I always say work more on the script rather than star cast , sets and publicity .

Movie Rating : One out of Five Stars , pathetic script , direction and acting .

Tashan --- Music Review

My gut feeling is getting stronger day by day that Tashan might turn out to be the Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom(JBJ) of this year or may be even worse . JBJ at least had a decent music in it but this one seems to doesn't even have that . The Music of this movie is out now and it is not at all worth buying . There is no song in the album that will lead the charts . It seems to me as the bank balance of Yash Raj is growing day by day they are becoming more and more careless . They have tried in this album to bring back the senseless , melody-less and Lyrics-less Music of the times of Govinda & Akshay . The music is by Vishal-Shekhar and after OSO this one is a big disappointment . The songs in this Album have nothing to offer . The reason I speak so strongly is because if such a big Production house of India will behave this way then their days are limited . Well , its too early for me to say something like this but I hope they prove me wrong and at least the movie is Good enough to fade the bad effects of its music .

The Album has Five songs in total out of which only two are Good (comparatively) . There are also four dialogues by all the leading cast introducing their characters .

The first in the lot is Dil Hara by Sukhwinder Singh and has lyrics by Piyush Mishra . The music is what is played in the trailer of the movie . The song is well sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Lyrics are OK . The song is quite good but towards the end it suddenly becomes fast and from a desi track it turns into a hard rock song which has not been done well . Apart from its end , the song is good and probably second best track in the album .

After this comes the dialogue by Kareena , Pooja Ka Tashan . She introduces herself and gives a peek of her tom boy nature in he movie . What I am afraid is that Kareena would look really bad in this movie and she would not at all suit the character . But I can understand why Kareena said Yes to this role , just to get an entry into the Yashraj Camp .

Then comes Chaliya by Sunidhi and Piyush Mishra . The lyrics are by Anvita Dutt and I think her lyrics have not been given full justice . The tune is not at all good and just because of the music the song has suffered . The song might look good in the movie but certainly not for your music collection .

After this song a short dialogue by Saif introducing his character of a Playboy and may be Saif might pull of this role well since it suits his personality .

Then comes a song (Dil Dance Maare) that I couldn't figure out , what is it all about . The song is a pathetic mixture of Desi linguistics and English lyrics making no sense at all . The singing is decent by Sukhwinder , Sunidhi and Udit but lyrics are just so Bakwaas . Vishal , last gave lyrics of a beautiful song in Om Shanti Om (Ankhon mein teri ajab si) and now he has given lyrics to this song that makes no sense at all .

Then there is a Dialogue by Akshay Kumar who plays a "Chhora Ganga Kinare Waala"but delivers his dialogue like Punjabi Jatt which he is . So once more I don't think this role might suit his Jatt Personality . Probably Abhishek would have done it better .

Then comes which is probably the best song on the album " Falak Tak " by Udit and Mahalaxmi Iyer . It is the Romantic pic of the Album and is quite melodious and Lyrical . The Music is also good in this one by Vishal-Shekhar and the Lyrics are great by Kausar Munir . The Music in this one also is quite western influenced with little bit desi beats blended in between .

The whole concept of this movie is blending Western Film Noire Genre with the grassroot desi culture of India . But I don't think it would work that way . The audience won't be able to digest it and it would become a tasteless Cocktail of "Desi Daaru" and Western Wine .

After this comes a Dialogue by Anil Kapoor in typical Hinglish in which he states that he is an Old Style Villian , vulgar and cheap . Though Anil is quite good at doing this so his character might look good in the movie with much more Adult Nonsense after what he has done recently in Race .

Last Song on the Album is the Title Song Tashan Mein by Vishal and Saleem and having Lyrics by Vishal and Piyush . They have not at all done justice to the Title of the movie and the song is a dull affair . There is nothing new about lyrics also .

Still , if you like just dhoom dhadaka and don't care a bit about melody and Lyrics then you might Like the album

Rating :
One and Half out of Five . The Album is not at all worth buying and only one song that is Falak Tak is worth listening .

Film Noire : Is it the Next Trend ?

The first teaser promo of Yashraj's Latest flick - Tashan is out now and from the rushes it looks like that the film would be a pure hardcore action flick and would have completely different styling for all the lead stars ( Akshay,Saif,Kareena & Anil) . The teaser has nothing but just an introduction of the star-cast and background score of a typical action flick . The trailer ends with a dialogue by Anil who appears to be the bad guy which goes something like this in crude english : " Firsht Impression ish the lasht impression ".

The Tag-line of the film is " The Ishtyle... The Goodluck... The Pharmoola " which kinda makes me think that this one would be also an attempt to a new genre for Bollywood - Film Noir .
The graphics for the title are also like any typical Neo-Noir film .The recent flick which did this was Sriram Raghwan's "Johnny Gaddar" . The movie did quite well and got great reviews .

For Akshay it is back to basics time since this one is not comedy and is his first love Action . For Kareena it is a new arena since she has never done an action flick before . I am sure she would leave her different mark among all the other greats . For Anil this one would be a kinda nostalgia since he himself comes from dharavi where bad guys are regulation and abusing on screen wouldn't be a problem for him . Kareena would have also learnt one or two more (after Jab We Met )from them . Saif would be the Playboy for sure apart from Akshay . Well enough guessing work , I hope the new guy Vijay Krishna Acharya does his job well of Direction and matches Sriram's Vision.

Vijay has earlier written screenplay for both the Dhooms and also written Dialogues for Mani Ratnam's GURU . The Yashraj Banner would certainly not compromise on the Action sequences but of late there Scripts have been quite weak apart from Chak De which was brilliant . Expectations would be running high from Aditya for Vijay .

Bollywood is searching for new scripts and genre and Film Noir genre promises to hold all the attractive ingredients . It has all the Dialogue-Baaji and the Beatiful Girls which are enough to attract the audience not to forget the Action and cheap one liners . The production houses today want to rake in the moolah and they can make any kind of cinema to do it . Looks like the Neo-Noir would be the next insect that would bite the bollywood producers .

Jab We Met -- Movie Review

The longtime real life couple Shahid-Kareena's last reel life appearance was a good farewell to them . Jab We Met is a good romantic comedy with a fabulous performance by Kareena and Shahid also did his part quite well . For the first time there Chemistry on screen was looking good .

The movie starts with shahid being dumped by his girlfriend who gets married to some other guy . Shahid gets miserable and goes away from his own life and then accidently meets very bubbly and lively Punjabi Girl , Geet , who makes him forget the past and live life the way she does. She is a blabber-mouth and even talks when she is sleeping . On the contrary Shahid is as very serious guy who is the son of very famous businessmen and is quite confused about his life . Geet ( Kareena ) doesn't hide anything from him & tells him about herself and how she wants to run away with the love of her life , a guy from Simla .

Kareena meets Shahid on a train and misses her train because of him . He takes her to her home back to Bhatinda and in the journey Shahid falls in love with her and also gets a new perspective of life . Kareena is a briliant actress with acting running in her blood veins. She looks very cute and surprisingly very much in shape .

In the second half the story turns the other way as the guy , whom Kareena loves , dumps her and she lives Nine months in misery in Simla away from her home , from where she runs away for him . Then Shahid comes to know about this and he teaches Kareena the same things what she tought him earlier about life . And after this strangely her lover comes back and apologises . She accepts her apology and takes him back to Bhatinda to marry him and Shahid supports them . What happens afterwards is left for you guys to watch .

I am big time fan of "Socha Na Tha" and I think it is one of the best Sweet-Romantic comedy film and " Jab We Met " has also been made with same spirit , yet it is not as good as the first one was . Director Imtiaz Ali has something for " Running away " from home as he uses the same situation in the second movie also . But he knows his job quite well and he has directed this one nicely . The Pace of the movie is good with some songs in between which were quite a disappointment . The second half is not as good as the first one yet it is bearable .

Pritam , stop stealing American Tunes and do something original . Only two songs were worth it and the rest were quite boring . Maybe Imtiaz should have stuck with Sandesh Shandilya who did a good job in "Socha Na Tha" .

Kareena is the best thing in the movie and Shahid was also good . Shahid should now get over his chocolate boy image and start doing roles with some serious nature . Like this movie , he should do the roles which are little serious because it suits him . He is a good actor but he needs to work a little more hard to change his image . Maybe he should take some Acting Lessons from his Dad who could polish him very well .

Overall the film is quite good and worth a watch . All the couples would enjoy it therefore I didn't enjoy it as much , as I am still single . Well I also want to say " Jab We Met " , is any body listening ?

Movie Rating : Two and Half Stars for Kareena's Good performance and
direction .
